Peregrines at Devil's Courthouse

The Peregrine Falcons at Devil's Courthouse are doing well. Both parents are
bringint food for the three young, two of which now look very much like
adults except that they have rusty brown streaked breasts and brown
backs. These are probably males since male young develop faster than females
although they will be smaller as adults. The less well developed ayess
(female) still has a great deal more white on the sides, wings and in the
tail. Since the adult female is still tearing up the food for the young,
fledging is probable a week to ten days away. The young will be around the
cliff for a couple of weeks after fledging so there is still plenty of time
to see the world's fastest bird in action! The birds blend into the cliff
face,so 20 to 40X scope is needed. The best time for viewing is afternoon
when the sun shines on the cliff face.
