In the yard this morning an apparently fledgling Louisiana Waterthrush was
making quite a racket, working his way clockwise and counter-clockwise in a
big circle around the open area containing the bird feeders, singing the
complete adult breeding song weakly, slowly and not quite at full volume.
Also heard in the yard this morning were several half-songs from the
Prothonotary Warbler fledges (only two or three "swee"s per song, at low
volume) and an apparently fledgling Whip-poor-will, also singing the
complete adult breeding song weakly and not at full volume. The fledgling
Whip-poor-will, however, already displayed an adult's persistence in
singing and carried on for quite some time.
