With regard to the Ivory-bill WP's, I believe that while the last confirmed
sightings in the US were as indicated in the previous post, the bird was
documented in Cuba and/or on the Isle of Pines (a large Cuban island just south
of the main island) through the mis-80's.  I believe the general consensus is
that if the species is still viable, sightings would probably come from Cuba as
opposed to the US.  I think there are 2-3 NC records of the species including a
captured specimen near Wilmington in the 1800's.
