Mark, fyi; pass along to anyone you think might be able to help;

Hello all,
Anyone residing in the states south of Indiana please keep your eyes

peeled when you're out-and-about for Turkey Vultures wearing orange (w/
black
numbers) patagial tags. There are about 320 birds that have been tagged

to
date. Also there are several birds wearing transmitters which are part
of a
habitat use research sample in Indiana. If anyone with telemetry
equipment is
interested (again anyone residing south of Indiana) I may pass on some
frequencies so you may scan for them during migration. Likewise anyone
doing
aerial telemetry monitoring would have a higher chance of locating the
birds.
I would particularly be interested in the coastal region around Fort
Myer,
FL as sightings have been recorder there in the recent past. Any locale

along the Gulf Coast would be a potential wintering point as well as
further
south into FL and toward the West into Texas and Mexico. There is a
lack of
stop over data for Turkey Vultures and since the transmitters will stay
on
until early spring and the patagial tags are permanent this may be an
attempt
at collecting some migrational data. Furthermore, any accounts from
rehabilitation facilities are also good data sources. Please relay
sightings
to my email address and include: Your Name and Contact Information /
Date -
Time / State / County / Road Intersection / General Area - Sighting
Description / and any other pertinent information. Input and ideas
would be
appreciated.

Thanks, Brian
