After the thunderstorms last night, the sod farm was very wet and full
of birds this morning from about 10 until 11. Shorebirds included:
Semipalmated Plover (1 or 2)
Killdeer (very, very many)
Spotted Sandpiper (1)
Upland Sandpiper (2)
Least Sandpiper (lots)
Pectoral Sandpiper (20+)
Stilt Sandpiper (1)
Common Snipe (1)
There were lots of non-shorebirds while Golden-winged Skimmers and Black
Saddlebags were the most obvious dragonflies. All the birds are moving
from field to field constantly, so there are probably other shorebird
species on the farm - many of the birds are in the fields across the
road from the grain bins and 2 large blue silos. I just parked here and
watched what moved in and out for the hour. Very pleasant spot this
morning.
