Hi Folks,
Sneaked off early yesterday to get more time at Shepherd's Trail in
Duke forest: 4pm-6.30pm.
Didn't see quite the variety as the day before, but got great views
of a lifer: Worm-eating warbler (possibly 2). It was about 1/2 way
around the trail feeding in low poplar saplings and brambles. At one
point it flew to within 15 feet and came right out onto the path:
beautiful!. Also present were several magnolia Ws, lots of Am
redstarts, grey catbirds, 2 BH nuthatches, 3 male winter plumage
scarlet tanagers and all the usual suspects.
This trail is turning out to be a bird Mecca this fall! Don't know if
I can get there today, but I'll try...
