Caesar's Head Hawk Watch

Not a bad day for the time of year with 55 migrants.
Turkey Vulture...............42
Sharp-Shinned Hawk...4
Cooper's Hawk.............4
Red-tailed Hawk...........1
Unidentified Accipiter...1
Unidentified Raptor.......3
As the day progressed the wind increased and blew lots of leaves off the
trees below and around the site. It made for lots of difficulty picking out
long distance hawks from short distant leaves, but was an interesting way to
tell where the birds were getting maximum lift. Some of those leaves got
really high. The difference between a Red-tailed and a Red Oak is not as
obvious as one might think.
