Lori went shopping today so I went to Blowing Rock to do some birding. The
best spot was around Bass Lake at Moses Cone Park. I had 1 Red Crossbill to
fly over and a flock of 20+ Pine Siskins feeding in a hemlock tree. On the
water, along with many Wood Ducks and Mallards, was one male Ring-necked
Duck. On the way home I checked the boat accesses on Lake Hickory and had a
female Bufflehead at Lovelady access in Caldwell Co. and 2 Ruddy Ducks at
Oxford access in Catawba Co.
