Lex Glover, Caroline Eastman, myself and a couple of other birders spent
most of the day today at the suburban yard near Lexington, SC where Bill
Hilton recently banded South Carolina's first Buff-bellied Hummingbird. We
did not find the hummer. There was a very well fed Loggerhead Shrike in the
yard, however, which gave us pause. But at least here in central South
Carolina we still have shrikes as yard birds.
So, shake it off, ye olde South Carolina listers. This birdie is probably
not there any more. Think Christmas Bird Count and find something else good!
