Dear Carolinabirders:
Late yesterday afternoon, Susan and I saw a female shiny cowbird at the
ferry terminal at Cedar Island. It was a lone cowbird, feeding in the grass
with about a dozen starlings. Noted: an all brown bird; no white throat;
faint supercilium; sharp, pointed bill; no curve to the culmen of the bill;
longer tail giving a longer appearance than of brown-headed cowbird. We
studied him twice. Last seen flying off over the motel section there at the
ferry landing. A life bird for us. Rich and Susan Boyd, Beaufort, NC.
