The following are highlights of the Sunday birdwalk at Magnolia plantation
at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) west of Charleston, SC led by Perry
Nugent from 8:am to 11:00 am.
November 3, 2002.
68 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 1 Green
Heron, 1 Black-crowned Night Heron, 4 Lesser Scaup, 3 Hooded Mergansers, 1
adult Bald Eagle, 1 Northern Harrier, 3 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 1 Cooper's
Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 3 Virginia Rails, 10 Soras, 1 female
Ruby-throated Hummingbird. 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, 3 House Wrens, 15
Golden-crowned Kinglets, 250+ American Robins, 2 White-eyed Vireos, 1
Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Cape May Warbler, 1 Palm Warbler, and 10 White-throated
Sparrows.
