The following are the highlights of the Sunday morning birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) west of Charleston, SC
led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
October 27, 2002
64 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 10
Pied-billed Grebes, 1 Green Heron, 2 Green-winged Teal, 150 Blue-winged
Teal, 1 Northern Harrier, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 2
Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Merlin, 2 House Wrens, 30 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 15
Golden-crowned Kinglets, 3 Black-throated Blue warblers, 300+ Yellow-rumped
Warblers, 6 Pine Warblers, 2 Palm Warblers, 3 Black-and-white Warblers, 2
immature Indigo Buntings, and 1 immature White-crowned Sparrow.
