Pacolet Valley Venture

C-birders
Despite the vile weather up here in Asheville on 6 November, we escaped and
headed south to the North Pacolet River and Landrum area of SC for our last
day trip of the year.
As well as being very lucky with the weather, we had a very nice selection
of open country stuff.
Highlights were:
Northern Harrier -excellent studies of 2 birds
Common Snipe 2 -flushed by the harriers!
Loggerhead Shrike 1
Palm Warbler 1 -a little late
Excellent sparrows, inc. Savvanah, Swamp, White-crowned, White-throated,
Field, and Vesper (5, inc. scope views!)

Also a few butterflies still around, inc. Gulf and Variegated Fritillaries,
Checkered White, Sleepy Orange and Cloudless Sulphur.

Our 2003 Calendar has not been printed yet, but if anyone would like an
update, please contact me here in the Ventures office.
