The following are highlights of the three hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) Northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
68 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 5
Black-crowned Night Herons, 1 Male Northern Shoveler, 15 Gadwalls, 3
American Wigeon, 12 Ring-necked Ducks, 1 adult Bald Eagle, 1 Sharp-shinned
Hawk, 3 Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 Virginia Rail, 3 Soras, 1
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 1 Marsh Wren, 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet, 2 Hermit
Thrushes, 8 American Pipits, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Nashville Warbler, 1
Palm Warbler, 8 Rusty Blackbirds, and 1 House Finch.
