Carolina Birders:
After many years of chasing them, Lynn and I have concluded that Eurasian
Wigeons don't exist. "I just saw one on North Pond; hurry." "They're easy to
find in that big lake in Wilmington right now." Away we go on another wild
goose (duck?) chase, only to be skunked again. However, on the off chance
that all the reports of this phantom species are not part of a great hoax
played on unwary birders, we are going to try yet again to add one to our
life lists. If someone spots one in the Carolinas this winter, would some
kind soul post the particulars so that we can receive our annual dose of
humiliation?
