Henderson County Christmas Bird Count

Folks:
The 6th annual Henderson County Christmas Bird Count was held
yesterday, December 29. I want to thank the 19 dependable folks who helped
do the count. We had a total of 83 species, which was our second best
count, with 84 species in 1999 being the best of our counts. There were no
real rarities, but Simon Thompson and Les Saucier did find 2 Palm Warlers
and a few Red-breasted Nuthatches which are both good birds for Henderson
County. Reece Mitchell had a Horned Grebe which was unusual for Henderson
County as well.
In summary, we got most of the expected species with no glaring
misses.
Best regards,
Wayne
