The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) Northwest of
Charleston, SC. led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
December 29, 2002
70 Species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 6 Anhingers, 5
Black-crowned Night Herons, 5 Wood Ducks, 250 Blue-winged Teal, 200
Green-Winged Teal, 8 Gadwall, 8 American Wigeon, 2 Ring-necked Ducks, 1
adult, 1 4th yr. and 1 immature Bald Eagles, 3 Red-shouldered Hawks, 2
Red-tailed Hawks, 1 American kestrel, 1 Pileated Woodpecker, 3 House Wrens,
4 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 4 Hermit Thrushes, 3 Gray Catbirds, 15 Cedar
Waxwings, and 15 American Goldfinches.
