We received a telephone call from Howard Vainright this evening. While
leading a Greenville Parks and Recreation field trip today, he saw a Western
Kingbird on the causeway at Mattamuskeet NWR.
I wouldn't want to second guess Howard, but as you know, some birds
originally identified as Western Kingbird sometimes turn out to be something
even better (such as Tropical Kingbird).
If you decide to go that way, look carefully. The causeway is a great place
to look for many late migrant songbirds.
