Magnolia Plantation birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour birdwalk at Magnolia Plantation
at 3550 Ashley river Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of Charleston, SC led by
Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.

February 2, 2003

69 species were seen and/or heard on a cool becoming nice day.  The most
interesting were; 1 Anhinga, 1 Green Heron, 2 Wood Ducks, 20 Green-winged
Teal, 40 Blue-winged Teal, 7 Northern Shovelers, 1 Gadwall, 1 Bufflehead, 15
Ruddy Ducks, 1 adult and 1 first year Bald Eagles, 3 Northern Harriers, 2
Cooper's Hawks, 3 Red-shouldered Hawks, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 15 Virginia
Rails, 20 Soras, 1 Common Snipe, 2 Caspian Terns, 12 Forester's Terns, 2
Pileated Woodpeckers, 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 2 Marsh Wrens, 2
Ruby-crowned Kinglets, and 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets.
