The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
February 16, 2003
63 species were seen and/or heard on a cold, wet and windy day. The most
interesting were; 1 Green Heron, 2 Black-crowned Night Herons, 3 Great Blue
Herons on nests, 1 female Ruddy Duck, 1 Osprey, 2 Northern Harriers, 1
Coopers Hawk, 3 Red-shouldered Hawk 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 4 Pileated
Woodpeckers, 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, 3 Eastern Bluebirds, 5 Dark-eyed
Juncos, 30 Rusty Blackbirds, and 2 adult male and 1 female Baltimore
Orioles.
