Caw Caw birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday birdwalk at Charleston
County's Caw Caw Park in Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.  A

March 26, 2003

48 species were seen and/or heard on a nice warm day.  The most interesting
were; 20 Great Blue Herons ( 18 migrating high in the sky ), 2 adult and 2
baby ( on nest ) Bald Eagles, 1 adult and 1 baby Great Horned Owl, 1 Barred
Owl, 1 Chimney Swift, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers, 1 Brown-headed Nuthatch, 12
Eastern Bluebirds, 6 White-eyed Vireos, 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 25 Parula
warblers, 10 Yellow-throated Warblers, 3 pine warblers, 10 Common
Yellowthroats, 2 Chipping Sparrows, and 1 Savannah Sparrow.
