Hilton Pond 03/22/03 (Wood Ducklings)

The last week in March brought more rain to Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History--and also a whole bunch of baby Wood Ducks.

For a photo essay about the sudden increase in our local waterfowl population, visit "This Week at Hilton Pond" for the long week of 22-31 March 2003 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek030322.html .

As always there's a tally of all birds banded and a list of recaptures. For all you butterfly enthusiasts there's a photo of a new species for the Center--a Falcate Orangetip, and we include a link to a page that describes our most recent banding encounter with a Rufous Hummingbird.

BTW, our server seems a bit sluggish lately, so please be patient as you try to access our Web sites. :-)

Happy Nature Watching!
