Hilton Pond 04/01/03 (Land Snails)

After all the excitement over last week's Wood Ducklings, things have gotten pretty slooooow at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History, perhaps because our essay is about a sluggish land snail we found in one of our bird traps.

For a description and close-up photos of this slow-moving invertebrate, check out "This Week at Hilton Pond" for 1-7 April 2202 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek030401.html .

As always there's a tally of birds banded, as well as a list of recaptures; both were limited by day after day of rain. This week we also include a mugshot of our first Ruby-throated Hummingbird banded in 2003.

Happy Nature Watching,

BILL
