Santee Coastal Reserve 04-13-03



hi y'all,

met that western NC/VA birding juggernaut for our third annual spring romp
thru SCR this morning. visiting PA birder Michael Leahy also joined us for
the day. Ritch Lilly covered most of what we saw in his post yesterday, but
here are a few of our "highlights"....

Ruby-throated Hummingbird - (also one next door at the Delta, flycatching in
a Black Willow)
Am. White Pelican - (23, what a coincidence)

Yellow-crowned and Black-crowned Night-heron
Glossy Ibis
Least Bittern - killer view of a beautiful bird
Anhinga
Wood Duck
Mottled Duck
Blue-winged Teal

Eastern Wood-peewee - one, silently flycatching
Great Crested Flycatcher - numerous and noisy

Falcate Orange-tip - (one male at the Delta)

Yellow Pitcher Plant, Possum-haw, Blue-flag Iris, Red buckeye, Lyre-leaf
Sage, Toad Flax, violet sp., Fetterbush, Easter Lily, a few DYCs flowering.
