As if someone turned on the neotropical migrants tap--full open. A number
of new arrivals, and increased numbers of quite a few others..
Some highlights, and "Year Firsts" for me on Sunday morning 4-27-03
Blue-winged Warbler 1
Blue Grosbeak 2
Indigo Bunting 4
Summer Tanager 3
White-eyed Vireo 3
Red-eyed Vireo "many"
Great-crested Flycatcher 3
Wood Thrush 3 --singing for a few days now
Harrier 1 female
also of note:
Great Horned Owl 2 (one adult, and one large ear-tufted nestling)
Red-shouldered Hawk pair,
Turkey 10+ lots of gobbling in the early morning fog..
In Durham, Casam Rd.:
Bobolinks
Savannah Sparrow
Barn Swallow
Meadowlarks
and along Brickhouse Rd. (with Norm Budnitz and others):
Yellow-throated Warbler 4
Eastern Wood Pewee 1
Orchard Orioles 2-3
White-crowned Sparrow 1
and the usual suspects....
