Caw Caw birdwalks



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday and Saturday morning
birdwalks at Charleston County's Caw Caw Park on US highway 17 south in
Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.  A small fee is charged.  For

May 14, 2003

65 Species were seen and/or heard.  The Most interesting were; 25 Anhingas,
20 Wood Storks, 18 Wood Ducks, 3 Mississippi Kites, 2 Ospreys, 2 fledgling
Bald Eagles, 40 Semipalmated Plovers, 20 Solitary Sandpipers, 8 Spitted
Sandpipers, 100 Least Sandpipers, 8 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 3 Wood pewees, 1
Acadian Flycatcher, 1 Rough-winged Swallow, 4 White-eyed Vireos, 2
Yellow-throated Vireos, 8 Red-eyed Vireos, 20 Northern Parula Warblers, 6
Yellow-throated Warblers, 1 Pine Warbler, 4 Prothonotary Warblers, 15 Common
Yellowthroats, 3 Summer Tanagers, 1 Blue Grosbeak, 2 Indigo Buntings, 6
Painted Buntings, and 5 Orchard Orioles.

68 species were seen and/or heard.  The most interesting were; 10 Anhingas,
30 Wood Storks, 3 Mississippi Kites, 3 Osperys, 1 adult and 1 fledgling Bald
Eagles, 2 Black-necked Stilts, 6 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 2 Barred Owls, 1
Hairy Woodpecker, 5 Wood Pewees, 3 Acadian Flycatchers, 3 Yellow-throated
Vireos, 20 Northern Parula Warblers, 5 Prothonotary Warblers, 2 Summer
Tanagers, 2 Blue Grosbeaks, 1 Indigo Bunting, 5 Painted Buntings, and 10
Orchard Orioles.
