For those who care about such matters, the recent report by Dan Kaplan of 9
Swallow-tails at our "rapidly-becoming-favorite-Swallow-tailed Kite-spot"
near Riegelwood, NC is within striking distance of the NC one-day record (to
the best of my knowledge) for Swallow-tails in NC. 11 of these magnificent
birds were reported at Cape Hatteras, NC on May 26, 1962.
So count those kites carefully, John Dole!!! :-)
