Last Sunday, the 20th, my daughter Elisa and another Virginia birder spent 7
hours on Shackleford Banks, near the eastern end.
The Long-billed Curlew and several Whimbrel were a short distance west of
the landing.
Three Reddish Egrets were present.
Commonest shorebird dowitchers, with many (50?) Wilson's Plover (one having
to be freed from a scallop), some Marbled Godwit.
Orchard Orioles in the woody vegetation. Elisa suspects the 40+ seed ticks
she picked up also were in the woody vegetation.
