birds and botanizing in Lewis Ocean Bay

hi y'all,

spent part of the day Sunday with a cpl of friends "botanizing" at Lewis
Ocean Bay, ~8 mi. north of Conway, SC. while wandering around looking
specifically for a cpl of grasses, heard several Bachman's sparrows,
Chipping Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat, a Yellow-throated
Vireo, numerous towhees, a killdeer, Eastern Bluebird, a number of "usual
suspects."

lots of E. Tiger and Palamedes swallowtails (individuals and groups
"puddling,") also Cloudless and Orange sulphurs, Horace's Duskywing, Common
Buckeye, a Great Purple Hairstreak. much Clethra alnifolia in bloom.

at home, i'm feeding the most hummers ever for my location. looks like the
Ruby-throateds have "done good" here this year. woohoo!

cheers,
gary
