Birders and bird-lovers in the Asheville area have a chance to treat
themselves to a special showing of "Winged Migration" and help two
conservation-oriented groups at the same time.
A benefit showing for SouthWings and Elisha Mitchell Audubon, followed by a
fun-filled reception, is scheduled for Thursday, August 14th.
EMAS's own Simon Thompson, an ornithologist with experience around the world,
will highlight the post-screening reception with a talk on migration and will
answer questions that you may have after seeing the film. The reception will
feature beverages (including wine) and home-made goodies.
SouthWings is a non-profit led by pilot/conservationists, who fly media and
government officials on educational tours over areas of environmental concern,
such as strip mines and forest clear-cuts. SouthWings' mission is to use
flight in advocacy for sustainable solutions to restore and to protect
ecosystems and biodiversity in the Southeast.
The details of the benefit:
Date and time: Thursday, August 14th, at 7:15pm to 10pm or so.
