Lake Crabtree this weekend

Definitely slower at Crabtree when compared to last weekend. While the
birds were not dripping from the trees, they were, at least, drizzling. 90
minutes yesterday noon and a few hours this morning produced the following:

Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Veery
Wood Thrush
Scarlet Tanager
Summer Tanager
Great Crested Flycatcher
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Yellow-breasted Chat
Magnolia
Blackburnian
Yellow Warbler
Black and White (tons)
American Redstart (ditto)
Pine (double ditto)
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue
Chestnut-sided
Hooded
REVI and White-eyed

Fortunately it looks as if SC will be spared Isabel. The most recent NHC
forecasts put the storm off the NC OBX in 5 days. Each successive forecast
seems to track a bit farther to the west, and the most recent estimates show
only a glancing blow to NC. This would of course do little to nothing for
inland birding, but would at least keep the trees off my roof!

The next two weeks should be fun for migrants, hopefully those Bay-breasteds
and Cape Mays will begin gracing the Piedmont shortly.

Have a great week!
