Hi Carolinabirders,
This afternoon I went to the Conway Sewage Ponds in Conway, Horry
County, SC. A very pleasant afternoon with some good birds and
butterflies. A total of 30 species.
Great Egret-4
Snowy Egret-1 bird of the year
Little Blue Heron-5
Tricolored Heron-1
Blue-winged Teal-2
Turkey Vulture-1
Red-tailed Hawk-1
Killdeer-5 to 8
Greater Yellowlegs-2
Lesser Yellowlegs-3
Least Sandpiper-12
Semipalmated Sandpiper-1
Common Snipe-4
Mourning Dove-1
Red-headed Woodpecker-1
N. Flicker-5
Tree Swallow-80
Barn Swallow-1
Tufted Titmouse-1 heard only
Ruby-crowned Kinglet-5
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher-5
Yellow-rumped Warbler-30
Palm Warbler-2
Am. Redstart-2 females
Common Yellowthroat-2 female types
N. Cardinal-2
Song Sparrow-2
Swamp Sparrow-1 heard only
Red-winged Blackbird-many
Common Grackle-1
There was another interesting shorebird which showed a white-rump but I
couldn't get a handle on whether the primaries extended beyond the tail
nontheless plumage and leg color and size were appropriate for
White-rumped Sandpiper.
