CE course: tables, pt 2

Using tables in page design

In one of the many unforeseen developments of the web, the HTML table tag has developed into a practical tool for arranging text and images on a page, in ways that HTML is otherwise unable to attain.

For example, even with the align, hspace and vspace attributes of image coding, we still cannot put a caption with a photo and wrap text around it. But by borrowing from table attributes, we can.

Here is one example:

This is a sample of text which is displayed next to the image without interfering with the image caption. This text is actually in a table cell.

Notice that width attributes were used not just within the image source code but also within the table data codes.

You can also use the alignment attributes which we know from images in tables . This allows you to wrap text around a photo with its caption.

Text and lots of text here. Yes there is indeed tex in this space. It says little and means less, but that is normal for what you see with text. Yes, this is text, it is text indeed and little else but text. I'll say it again. Text and lots of text here. Yes there is indeed tex in this space.
