SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:
Dearest Srivaishnavas,

In last verse AzhwAr enjoyed His kai vaNNam (hand
work) and now He continues to enjoy His hand work
along with His footwork? and narrates His leelAs;

kadankalandha vankari marupposiththu Or poykaivaay
vidankalandha paambinmEl nadampayinRa naathanE
kudan kalandha kooththanaaya koNdalvaNNa!
thaNthuzhaay,
vadankalandha maalaimaarbhaa! kaalan^Emi kaalanE!
(38)

Oh KaalanEmi kaalanE! Oh Swami! The One who was a Yama
(death) of KaalanEmi asurA! [OR] the One who runs the
kaala (Time) ChakrA over ages! Kaala nAthA!
Sarva Swami! The One who broke the tusker of huge
strong elephant Kuvalayaapeetam and then practiced
dancing on the heads of poisonous KaaLingan snake in
the middle of the Yamuna river! Oh cloud hued KaNNA!
The one who danced holding the array of pots on is
head in the intersection of streets! (kudakkootthA!)
heeding to the cowherd woman?s plea in order to get
a handful of butter from her! [what a sowlabhyam] The
One who wears most fragrant thuLasi garland on his
divine chest!

Kutti KaNNan went in between the strong legs of the
huge strong elephant while fighting with the same (at
the entrance of Kamsa?s palace] and that angered the
elephant which made the waters ooze out of its
forehead and then Kutti KaNNan broke its tusker and
killed the same. The way he danced in the intersection
of streets with pots on His head is in no way less
enjoyable for Him than the dance He performed on the
poisonous many headed Kaalingan-
the snake.

When gopas with their cattle strayed to the spot where
part of Yamuna river by name Kalindi was there and the
thirsty boys drank along with the cattle
from that pond and dropped dead. KaNNan gazed upon
them and realized what happended. They revived with
his divine glance and KaNNan decdied to resolve
the issue then and there with Kaalingan snake who
loves in that pond making the whole pond waters
poisonous with his presence. So, while the Gopas
watched, KaNNan climbed the tree nearby , removed His
peethAmbaram, peacock flowers and the few flowers,
tightened his lion cloth and jumped straight
into the pond. So great was the jump the water
splashed few meters high. Kaalingan was angered and
even surprised and with terrific rage, attacked
the Kutti fiercely and stung Him with his fangs. He
entwined Himself around the divine Body of Kutti in
order to choke him and cut him into various pieces.
The Gopaka boys could not bear to see the darling
KaNNan being chiked. They felt certain that His death
is unavoidable and feel down with sorrowful tears.
Cattle wept and lowered their heads in distress. The
elders by now were informed and the whole cowherd clan
has arraived at the pond bank alarmed including
Nandhagopan. They were more wooried as there was no
Balarama that day with Kutti. Balarama was never
perturbed and consoled all and even prevented Nandhan
from jumping into the waters to save KaNNan.

It was almost few long minutes and KaNNan was in the
grip of the deadly snake. When KaNNan realized the
distress of entire cowherd clan and of his father and
mother even, KaNNan grew himself so much that the
snake could not hold him anymore. KaNNan leaped onto
one of the heads of Kaalingan and held the tail with
His one hand. Angered Kaalingan raised his other heads
and their tongues to touch KaNNan and kill Him; KaNNan
jumped on those heads that rose up; Thus, it became
kind of dancing jumping from one head to other
and taming down one head and the other- thus touching
all heads of Kaalingan with His lotus feet (wow! What
a bhAgyam!). The sight was indeed wonderful and
enchanting for everyone and even Devas appeared in the
sky! They can not miss such golden opportunity of
seeing and enjoying paravtham in such simple
enchanting form doing such a wonderful dance!
Kaalingan exhausted by his own struggle and heeding to
the requests and prayers of his (Kaalingan?s) wives,
KaNNan spared him from getting killed. Kaalingan went
with his family, for Ramanaka Dweepa and left Yamuna
river.

nATHA! Only the master and Swami needs to protect His
property and hence You did that wonderful deed of
protecting Your property, namelt Gopakas and cattle!
You did it so effortlessly and charmingly! He shows
His Supremacy of Lordship with his wearing thuLasi
garland and declares His Parathvam! The pots, the
snakes and He- all are dark hued colour- and hence
AzhwAr addresses Him- koNdal vaNNA! Cloud coloured
Lord! Not just colour; also in showering His dayA like
the cloud that showers with no partiality.

Thirumazhisai Piraan ThiruvaDigaLE SaraNam
Regards
Namo Narayana
