Dear members/friends of the Tiruvenkatam Group,

In this last posting in this series, I share with you
some experiences/impressions of mine during a short
visit made to Sri Sarada Ashram (Sri Ramakrishna
Order) on July 25th towards the very end of my
vacation this year in Chennai.

The visit was virtually thrust upon me by our good
member-friend Sri GK Ramakrishnan "GKR" (who as we in
Kuwait all know is an ardent student-disciple of Sri
Ramakrishna Mutt). He happened to be in Chennai during
the time, and it was at his insistence and behest that
I paid an overnight visit to the Ashram at Ulludurpet.

"I insist you should go there", said GKR to me, "and
get a first-hand idea and feel of the nature and
extent of work being done there by the Ashram for the
rural population in one of the driest, most backward
and impoverished districts of T'Nadu. It will also
give you a first-hand idea of the future
plans/projects that the Ashram is currently working
upon", he said.

Having known Sri GKR in Kuwait all these years fairly
well, I knew that on this matter he really wasn't
going to take a "NO" from me. So in spite of the
extreme paucity of time left for me before my return
to Kuwait (I had not even re-confirmed my return
flight-ticket!!), I said 'alright' to Sri GKR.

Within an hour a telephone call came from the Ashram
telling me that, at the behest, of Sri GKR they were
sending me a car to pick me up the following afternoon
to take me to Ullundurpet for an overnight stay in the
Ashram premises. All arrangements for my stay would be
made. The President of the Ashram, the reverend
"matAji", Yatiswari Ramakrishnapriya Amba, would be
pleased to welcome me to the Ashram.

"I am proceeding now to Pune on a pilgrimage to
Pandharpur and Dehu (birthplace of Saint Tukaram)",
said Sri GKR to me, "I wish you a good visit to the
Sarada Ashram. When we meet again in Kuwait, I would
like to know from you your impressions and experiences
of the visit. Then perhaps, we can discuss, as God
might have it, the purpose of your visit".

"Purpose? What purpose?", I thought to myself as I bid
farewell to Sri GKR.

On that rather strangely suspenseful and quizzical
note, I travelled the next day to Sri Sarada Ashram,
Ulludurpet.

In the following 2 postings, it will be my purpose to
unravel that "suspense" for all of you.

Regards,
dAsan,
Sudarshan
