Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear BhAgavatas, I was under the impression that the information about Ayyappa was not found in any of the accepted puranas; that is, while there is the story of Mahishasura in the puranas, the story of him having a sister is a latter day addendum. Also, the habit of wearing a black dress to a temple also appears to be not in line with common tradition of Hindus, let alone Srivaishnavas. So, I am not even sure that there is validity in saying that Ayyappa was an avatar of Sriman Narayana or even had His sambandham. No offence is meant by these queries, so kindly forgive me if any was felt. adiyEn TCA Venkatesan --- Malolan Cadambi <cadambi@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Sri > Srimathe nigamAntha mahAdesikAya namaha > > Coming to Ayyappan, the latter is not worshipped as > Narayana by Sri > Vaishnavas since he is not a purnAvataram.
