crude translation :
" Those who mention the
speciality of mountains, say that pythons are capable of swallowing even
elephants. Therefore, the blank clouds and the sounds emanating from these are
mistook this for elephants and muster themselves as hill to devour... That is
why these are termed as
'periya-mAsuNam'.
The nature and speciality of these pythons lies in swallowing the
elephants'
Normally, when clouds and lightning
occur, the serpants take refuge in their holes. However, these pythons dare out
in numbers as if to devour the elephants. That is the paradox.
