Meaning:
The quality of vAtsalyam will help the chetana not fear
looking at his own errors. The quality of svAmitvam will
help the chetana be sure that He will take care of him.
The quality of sausIlyam will help the chetana not do
naicyAnusandAnam looking at His great glory and stay away
from Him. The quality of saulabhyam will help the chetana
see Him directly and reach Him. The qualities of gyAna and
shakti will help remove the obstacles to reaching Him.
Sri PBA Swami's Sarartha Deepikai:
How are these qualities brought forth by the nArAyaNa term
here?
Vatsalyam is brought forth to make sure that the chetana
does not fear seeing the enormous sins that he has
committed. This quality is seen in a cow shown toward its
calf. That is, considering the dirt on the calf as sweet,
giving milk for its growth and fighting off its enemies
with horns and hooves. Similarly, He too looks at the
chetanas errors as good ("ennadiyAr athu seyyAr seythArEl
nanRu seythAr"), takes care of the chetanas through His
qualities ("pAlE pOl sIr") and always protects them ("na
tyajeyam kathanjcana").
Svamitvam is brought forth so that the chetana does not
have to fear if He will take care of him. Svamitvam means
that the master truly owns that which belongs to him. Even
if the chetana turns his sface away from Him, He will stay
focused on him and maintain His relationship to him. Since
the loss of the chetana is His loss, the chetana can be
sure that He will take care of him.
SausIlyam allows the chetana not to look at His immeasurable
greatness, His lordship over both vibhUtis and his own
lowliness and keep away from Him. SausIlyam is the quality
due to which He mixes with everyone without looking at their
nature. Therefore the chetana does not have to keep away.
Saulabhyam is the quality by which the chetana without
wondering that He cannot be seen ("atIndriya"), can see
Him with his own eyes and serve Him. Saulabhyam is making
Himself visible to all.
The qualities of gyAna and shakti help remove the obstacles
to the goal and give Himself to the chetanas. Knowledge
allows Him to see the lowliness of the chetana and what he
needs in order to reach Him. Having understood that, shakti
helps in making it happen.
