RathnAngi Kaimkaryam : Part190

Dear BhakthAs:

SrIman KrishNan Ayyangar of Nanganallur and SrIman Lakshmi Narasimhan Sridhar
of Bangalore are dear friends , who have a great attachment to the EmperumAn
of
Thiruneermalai Dhivya dEsam . adiyEn is writing this series of articles in the
context of
the recent Upanayanam at Thiruneermalai for Chi. DEvarAjan , the son of SrI
KrishNan Ayyangar ;
SrI Sridhar attended this upanayanam at Thiruneermalai ( ThOyAchalam) and has
produced
a 45 minute long video of Thirumanjanam and KalyANa Uthsavam for the EmperumAn
of
this dhivya dEsam during this occasion .adiyEn will release that divine content
as a separate CD ROM with the help of SrI Sridhar later. It is SrI Sridhar's
most
welcome contribution to ThiruvahIndhrapuram RathnAngi Kaimkaryam fund raising
effort .

Location of Thiruneermalai
*******************************
adiyEn has had the bhAgyam of sevai of the EmperumAn of Thiruneermalai a few
times.
This dhivya dEsam is located at a distance of three and half miles from
Pallavaram
station on the Chennai-Tambaram rail route .

The peace and tranquility that descends on one at the end of the sevai of the
Four
EmperumAns of the dhivya dEsam is some thing to be experienced . When one sits
outside the sannidhis on the steps of the hill temple and experiences the wind
gently
touching one's face , one can connect it to the presence of Saantha Narasimhan
inside
one of the three sannidhis on top of the hill .The experience is similar to
sitting on
the steps leading to Melkote Yoga Narasimhan's temple on the hill .

Thiruneer malai: MangaLAsAsanam by two AzhwArs
***************************************************************
This EmperumAn has recieved MangaLAsAsanam (20 Paasurams) from Thirumangai
AzhwAr and BhUthatthAzhwAr ; When Thirumangai AzhwAr visited Thiruneermalai ,
there were torrential rains and swirling floods that formed a deep and
dangerous moat
around the hill , on which the temple is located ; it was difficult even for
the sturdy
Thirumangai AzhwAr to swim across . The thirst of Thirumangai to have the
darsana
soubhAgyam of the EmperumAn of this dhivya dEsam was so intense that he did not
want to leave the dhivya dEsam without performing MangaLAsAsanam of the Lord
and ThAyAr. Thirumangai simply waited for six months at a village near by
known
today as Thirumangai AlwArpuram . Once the floods subsided , the AzhwAr visited
the EmperumAn NeervaNNan) at the foot the thill and the three sannidhis (
IrundhAn ,
KidanthAn and NadanthAn ) on top of the hill ( Thiruneer Malai).

MangaLAsAsana Paasurams
**********************************
Ninteen of the twenty Paasurams on this dhivya dEsams are from Thirumangai and
the remaining one is from BhUthatthAzhwAr ( IraNDAm ThiruvandhAthi: 47th
Paasuram).

Ten out of the 19 paasurams of Thirumangai are housed in Periya Thirumozhi(
PTM):
2.4 decad that begins with "AnRAyar KulakkodiyOdaNi maamalr Mangai--)

The other Nine Pasurams are found among Thiruidaventhai dhivya dEsa Paasurams
(Periya Thirumozhi 2.7.7), ThirnaRayUr paasurams ( PTM :6.8.4 , 7.1.7) ,
ThirukkaNNapuram Paasurams ( PTM: 8.2.3) , ThirunAhai Paasurams ( PTM: 9.2.8) ,

PTM: 10.1.1, Thirunedum ThANDakam: 18th Paasuram , SiRiya and Periya
Thirumadals.

The Four Sannidhis
***********************
1. Temple at the Foothill : PerumAL faces East in standing posture and has
the names of Neer vaNNan , Neelamughil vaNNan . ThAyAr's name is ANimAmalar
Mangai.

Saanidhis at the top of the Hill & Sacred PushkaraNIs
**************************************************************
2. IrundhAn or the Seated One ( Moolavar): Saantha Narasimhan in a seated
posture facing the East .

3. KidanthAn (Moolavar): Lord RanganAtha in a reclining position known as
MaaNikka Sayanam . He faces South to bless ANDAL and VibhishaNan.

4. NadanthAn ( Moolavar): Thrivikraman in a standing posture looks in
the Eastern direction .

There are five sacred PushkaraNis ( Thiruneer) at this dhivya dEsam :
MaNikarNigaa , Ksheera , KaaruNya , Siddha and SwarNa PushkaraNIs.
With the sacred waters ( Thiru Neer) and the hill (Malai) , the dhivya dEsam
got the name of Thiruneer Malai.

Legend has it that Sage VaalmIki worshipped at this temple . Being a top
Raama BhakthA , the sage had the darsanam of Lord RanganAtha as
Raamachandra , RanganAyaki ThAyAr as SitA PirAtti , AadhisEshan
( the bed of Lord RanganAtha ) as LakshmaNan , PerumAL's Chakram
and Sanghu as BharathA and SathrugnA and Garudan as HanumAn
at the hill top temple .

adiyEn will comment on the 20 Paasurams relating to this dhivya dEsam
in the next posting.

SrImath Azhagiya Singar ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam ,
Oppiliappan KOil VaradAchAri Sadagopan

P.S : Please do not miss out on the opportunity to acquire
the most beautifully produced Life and Vaibhavam of Swamy
Desikan in pictures produced by SrI SrIdhar ( Chithra Desikeeyam).
I wrote about the content of the CD ROM in detail recently.
