If we happen to listen to the statements (derogatory) about us, like "He is short; He is dark; He is of ugly face; He is lame; He is stupid- not intelligent; He is of low caste" and any other abusive statements, do not worry. These statements are all for our body (sarIram) and nothing of that sort relates to our AthmA, which is permanent, pure always. Hence, we do not need to scold back or howl at them for such statement; nor we need to sulk and feel remorseful. ------------------------- Thanks for this definition. We need to keep reading/hearing these finer points so to as mould ourselves to be a satvik individuals. Lest this loukika atmosphere tend to gobble us in its fold. If one abuses us we should not be 1. angry; 2. sulk. 3. feel remorseful. If we do/feel any of the above 3, we may tend to acquire 'karmaphala'. My view is that if 'A' abuses 'B' due to 'B's' karmaphala, 'B' has to view that with nirvikara manobhava so that the attained karmaphala gets nullified. otherwise, if he feel angry or sulk, then karmaphala gets stuck with him. However, in my view, having/forming any opinion on anyone/situations/circumstances is itself wrong. In loukika jagat there is nothing worthwhile to form opinion and by curtailing that exercise we tend to limit our tendancy to acquire karmaphala. If we indulge in any activity other than 'purushartha' be it physical or mental we tend to acquire karmaphala. Pls correct me if my view point is wrong. =================================================================== 2. Further, if someone really scolds or abuses us with such statements as above, or any other disparaging remarks against us, feel sorry for him that he unnecessarily incurs paapams (sins) by such statements and pray to Emperumaan to have krupai on him (remember Sri KooratthAzhwAn forgiving Nalooraan). ---------------------------------------------- While doing so(feeling sorry for the abusive individual) there will be another emotion that may stick to us and i.e., proudness. We may tend to feel proud of ourselves for forgiving the errant/abusive individual. This also need to be addressed otherwise we may tend to go astray albeit in a different way. Pls correct if I am going wrong. ==================================================================== Sri AndAL ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam Regards namo narayana dAsan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
