Dear all,
I feel I am in no way eligible to answer the the question assumed to end up as
a black-mark for Brahmins.Brahmins going abroad for earning money is adduced as
the reason for the black-mark.
We are in Kaliyuga.Until the minute we leave the mother earth, we need to lead
a decent life for which money is a pre-requisite. As long as money is not
earned through illegitimate means, it does not disqualify to be a Sri
Vaishnava, who need not necessarilly be a brahmin. Lord Krishna has shown a
very simple solution in in His Geetha.
When Arjuna understood that the Bagavat-Anubhavam is the only means and end and
that this could be realised through Karma, Gyana and Bakthi yogas, he wondered
how he was incapable of practising these karma, Gyana and Bakthi yogas having
fallen in the great Samsaara saagara....the Lord advises him through the sarama
sloga (Sloga66 of Chapter 18), Leave all the Dharma which you are not able to
practise and GET ME alone. I will distroy all your sins which hinder your way
to reach Moksha and Shed your fear.
If the money earned abroad is spent for:
**encouraging children and poor for Veda Adyayanam
**the Acharyaas to perform similar Dharma Kaaryams
**the welfare of the poor in general
**publication of religious books by Great Vidwaans
**the Temples to follow the minimum daily rituals as prescribed in Saastras,
we earn no sin by going abroad and on the contrary we earn "Punyams" because,
instead of one person strictly following the requirements, he makes his money
available to many souls as per the precedent set by our Greatest Acharya who is
none other than Sri Ramanuja who called all the commeners from the Temple Top
and announced the "Moola Manthra" not withstanding the sin he alone would get.
Acharyaas say that even the Punyams we earn should be offered to the Lord so
that "Punyams" will not stand in our way to attain "Moksha".In other words,
both Punyams and Sins are given to the Lord.
Please pardon me if I have exceeded my limits.
Regards,
Yours spritually,
S. Srinivasaraghavan

Hi sudarsan,
i would like to tell u one thing. we are brahmins. our duty is recite vedas &
do vedic activities. are we doing that properly...its all the mistake of ours.
if we would have followed that and if we are poor, then we came blame
politicians etc.
To all,
i'll just ask a simple question....how many of u in this group are not willing
to go to foreign countries. probably 1 or 2..bcoz they didnt get that
offer...Just bcoz of money many go to foreign places. everyone in the brahmin
society knows that we shud not go..Its a real black mark of Brahmins. Why dont
we follow our tradition.I would like to see a true Brahmin who has rejected
foreign offers just bcoz of his tradition.
How many of us have kudimi? (but sikhs do follow that)...atleast learn from
others.
Before finding fault with others, first we see ourselves.

Dear Sri.Munitrayan,
Even though AdiyEn am impressed
by our pre-British stature of poverty free India, we
have to be aware of the world then,
* Less population
* Higher infant mortality rate (toll by incurable
diseases for slightly grown-ups as a % may be the
same)
* free flowing rivers, with no need to harness power,
thus allowing vast lands to be cultivated
* free of corrupt politicians
* less material pursuits.......

In summary if we want to go back to pre-1835 quality
of living,
* our population should reduce,
apart from
* reducing our material desire
* & all, especially politicians should have faith and
abide by Vaidhika Dharma.

Do we have a solution, than to rely on science (to
increase productivity) and spiritualism (to lead a
balanced life in a satvik manner, without ego and with
blessings of AchArya/God/BhAgavathAs/Relatives).

AdiyEn Sri RAmAnuja DAsan,
