παραλυτικὸν αἰρόμενον ὑπὸ τεσσάρων.
τέσσαρες = 4
Λευιτικόν 23. 5
ἐν τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς
δεκατέσσερα = 14
https://www.dictionarist.com/english-greek/fourteen
Μάρκον 1. 13
καὶ ἦν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τεσσεράκοντα ἡμέρας
τεσσεράκοντα = 40
But why is it τεσσαράκοντα in the dictionary? https://www.dictionarist.com/english-greek/forty
- Λευιτικόν 23. 6
καὶ ἐν τῇ πεντεκαιδεκάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ μηνὸς
δεκαπέντε = 15
πέντε = 5
Maybe the word Pentecost comes from πέντε?
Likewise πενήκοντα = 50
https://www.dictionarist.com/english-greek/fifty
- Λευιτικόν 23. 3
ἓξ ἡμέρας ποιήσεις ἔργα,
ἓξ = six
δεκαέξι = sixteen
εξήντα = sixty
- Λευιτικόν 23. 6
ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἄζυμα ἔδεσθε.
ἑπτὰ = 7
δεκαεπτά = 17
εβδομήκοντα = 70
Thanks!

Re: τεσσεράκοντα or τεσσαράκοντα?
According to BDAG, τεσσεράκοντα is an Ionic-Hellenistic form that is used in the oldest manuscripts we have, but we can't really be sure which spelling was used in the original since τεσσαράκοντα was the more common spelling in papyri of the time.Mindy wrote: ↑May 30th, 2018, 2:35 am Μάρκον 1. 13

From Πεντηκοστή, "fiftieth". It is the fiftieth day after Passover. It is used in this sense in 2 Maccabees 1:32:
ἐξίσταντο δὲ πάντες καὶ διηποροῦντο, ἄλλος πρὸς ἄλλον λέγοντες, τί θέλει τοῦτο εἶναι;

Thank you, Jonathan.
I have found this Greek - Chinese parallel: https://bible.fhl.net/new/fhlwhparsing. ... F%E7%A4%BA
It says that τεσσαράκοντα = 40
τεσσεράκοντα - accusative
And here is another verse:
Ματθαίον 1. 17
Πᾶσαι οὖν αἱ γενεαὶ ἀπὸ Ἀβραὰμ ἕως Δαυὶδ γενεαὶ δεκατέσσαρες,
δεκατέσσαρες = 14
