Which plants would that be? Prairie hay and bromegrass are harvested
before senescence(gotta luv the english even if it's incorrect).
Wheat is harvested before and after senescence, as cattle feed(some
definitions may consider it hay) and as grain respectively.
Senescent wheat and oat straw is golden brown until it has weathered
several months depending on moisture, temperature and microbial load
(or some other term more biologically correct).Dennis
