Mike i think you got cought in a net where you didn't fit. It wasn't you who was considered making improper remarks. I sort of accused you of putting off till tomorrow the use and field testing I thought was going to start the day you got the thing. Me, I can't wait to learn how this stuff works. I guess I expect everyoone else to feel that way.Bob

Pardon me? My message was Nasty? Attacking?

'putting words in who's mouth?

>I'm not capable of wanting to help people who

Or even of a differing opinion?

I hold a lot of respect for you DrE, but this is a tad off. Yes. My
continuing this thread is taking it beyond necessary too, I am sorry -
but I don't want my differing opinions classifying me as nasty or
attacking. I've stood behind this science for a long time, even when I
hardly understood it. I have lots of questions, and yep Bob, I am
hesitant and cautious - you knew that when I first met you, and from the
several cautious messages back and forth with you about that purchase
(grin). Its in my blood (grin), but I do make progress and often
succeed - with much caution and a few moments of deep thought. (wink)

There were a few off list replies that I received regarding my message.
None of them referred to my message being nasty or attacking however.
Some agreed, some disagreed, others were mixed. All were friendly about
it tho, thank you. A few even pointed out where they thought I was
wrong, and stated their differing thoughts or gave me suggestions on
what I might think about differently - I did and their views made more
sense. (such as one message suggesting that maybe AACT just isn't'
ready for the common guy market quite yet and that we shouldn't be
trying to appease them quite so soon - more details were given, but
Hmmmm, I said, honestly, I hadn't thought about that angle)

A point of view doesn't need to be thought of as a negative bash; but
more a way for us to learn. Again, it just seems that we're supposed to
all go in a line and nod our heads up and down -don't question anything
- don't make suggestions? Naaw. I know that's not true, but one can
sure get that feeling sometimes.

I'll slip off the list thread quietly, and I apologize for this last
reply not dealing with AACT - but understand that I wasn't going away
with my name being referenced as being "nasty" or "attacking". It was
never in my thoughts and never my intent - I like to be considered on
this same team - and teammates, in my game, you are encouraged to give
input that I may or may not agree with.

If it was taken as nasty and attacking by Dr E and any others, I do
apologize - I just can't find where it reads that way.

Mike

Hi Chris -

If the pipe with the 90 degree turn isn't in the tea, and is no where
near the tea, how does anything that would cause a bio-film get into a
pipe well away from the water?

Linda, Mike and others, instead of getting nasty and attacking, I think
it would be much wiser to say, "no, really guys, there's a bio-film
there. I can show you."

Get to the specific problem. Solutions are only possible when the
specific situation is dealt with. Cleaning is a serious issue.

Manufacturers ARE responsible for their designs, and they have been sued
for murder when proven willfully negligent. We do not live in a "Buyer
Beware" society, as long as someone is willing to fight for the
consumer.

Unfortunately, the USDA is the Federal Agency in charge of compost tea.
Apparently, what they want to do is shut down the whole compost tea
industry because it competes with the chemical - pesticide industry,
which is paying the vacation and fringe benefits for the Federal
bureaucracy. Big busines has the money to pay for milliions in pay-off
money, but not enough money to pay more in taxes. Interesting.

Take home message - pay attention to Kirk Leonard. The USDA is out to
make compost tea something you can't use. And people that make machines
and sell them on a commercial level which result in harm to plants and
potentially to humans (i.e., the machine grows E. coli because of poor
aeration design) will be the cause of this industry being shut down
unless all of you do something to bring the USDA into line. Your
congressional representatives are the way to do this. I've tried
working through the Compost Tea Task Force, and folks, it's been a joke.
A bad joke, but there are at least two people whose purpose on the task
force is to prevent any progress from being made, and they are being
successful in achieving their goal.

Back to the issue at hand -

Chris, at least you are interested in solving this problem instead of
just causing general grief and harm. You have come forward to say the
pipe really does have bio-film in it. The first I've heard that
bio-film develops.

The proof I have of my statements on the 90 degree not being a problem
is also observational. I have never seen a problem there.

But I'm entirely capable of recognizing a problem when the problem is
put before me in a reasonable manner.

I'm not capable of wanting to help people who attack and are nasty.

So, what happened to get tea into that turn? What's going on?
