[compost_tea] Re: What does urine do to soil?

Urine is a hot source of nitrogen. When a dog pees in one place,
like most female dogs and some males, all that urine goes into one
spot and can provide too much nitrogen to the spot.

Dilution with water immediately is a great solution. If you don't
get there in time to dilute it, you can throw in some carbon to
rebalance the carbon/nitrogen ratio for the microbes and get the
grass to green up again. I scatter table sugar at a rate of one
handful of sugar per spot - and then water it in. Molasses would
work and maybe better.

When composting, urine in the pile is a good source of nitrogen.
Since no plants are growing in the pile, it just provides nitrogen
without killing anything.
