In the park we did, health turf outcompeted the dandelions. When the turf =
was mowed three or more weeks lower than 1.5 inches, broadleaves, including=
dandelions reappeared. When we let the turf grow to 2.5 inches over a lon=
g period, dandelions were again controlled. It has to do with healthy turf=
and healthy soil. When the soil is not healthy or the turf is cut too low=
, opportunistic broadleaves can take hold. Since they are huge water users=
, the problem of healthy turf is exacerbated by the broadleaves.
