Hi folks
I do agree with Steve and strongly believe that ACT is
definitely a potential tool for pland disease
control. However, despite our limited understanding of
the organisms found in suppressive composts and
compost teas, the specific microbial populations
responsible for the observed suppressiveness remain
elusive. For example, a strong correlation between
antagonist populations and disease suppressiveness in
composts and compost teas seldom exists. Furthermore,
little progress has been made toward understanding the
organisms involved in suppressiveness and the
mechanisms by which suppressiveness is expressed.
I am workinng on the SARE  project(both greenhouse and field
experiment) on control of foliar diseases of tomato using ACT.EM was
also tested in the experiment, but no encouraging results. The
results will be published  after March 2005.it is
quite interesting!
Regards
Chandra
