Wood ash contains a number of nutrients, in particular potassium as I
recall.
 
So, if you need potassium, then wood ash added to the compost would be one
way to obtain it. Care needs to be taken not to over-do, however, because
excess K can be bad news.
 
There may be other nutrients in high amounts in wood ash, so perhaps someone
else could remind us of those?
 
There are times I don't remember everything!!!!!! Grin!
