The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River road ( highway 61 ) northwest of Charleston,
SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
March 30, 2003
47 species were seen and/or heard on a cold wet day. The most interesting
were; 50 Anhingas many on nests, 3 Great Blue Herons, 50 Great Egrets, 12
Snowy Egrets, 1 Cattle Egret, 50 Little Blue Herons, 5 Tri-colored Herons,
10 Green Herons, 15 Black-crowned Night Herons all of these herons have
nests, 7 Ring-necked Ducks, 1 Lesser Scaup, 1 Osprey, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 1
Purple Martin, 20 Northern Rough-winged Swallows, 1 Barn Swallow, 1 Marsh
Wren, 4 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers.
