Went out to visit West Lake Pond and Ebenezer Point today (Saturday)
morning. Both were very interesting.
West Lake Pond:
75 Ring-necked Duck
20 Canvasback
15 American Wigeon
2 Bufflehead
The shadows in the back of the pond hid lots of ducks, but many of them were
facing me head-on so colors and shape were not possible to identify.
Ebenezer Point:
60 Ring-billed Gull (all in one colony on a bank)
25 Bonaparte's Gull
15 Horned Grebe
8 Merganser sp. (Either Common or Red-breasted, which one would be more
likely? Bill color wrong for Hooded. Light underparts
suggest Common?)
5 American Wigeon
2 Pied-billed Grebe
Surprised that there were no Loons or more Diving Ducks to be seen.
Overall a pretty nice day.
